From The Hague, singing in Spanish
To be clear up front: Janah isn't Spanish. He comes from The Hague. But Spanish is one of the five worlds in his repertoire, alongside Dutch, English, gypsy and rumba, and opera. With The Gypsies he recorded his own version of Amor Amor Amor, a Dutch classic made famous by André Hazes.
For you that means one singer for the whole evening. You don't need a Spanish act next to an English or Dutch band. Janah switches language when the room asks for it: a Spanish song for one side of the family, an English classic everyone knows the words to, a Dutch sing-along for the locals.
When people look for a Spanish-language singer
- A wedding with a Spanish-speaking family. One of you has family in Spain or Latin America, and you want them to feel as much at home as everyone else. See also wedding singer.
- A Spanish theme night. A company, a club or a restaurant building an evening around Spain, with tapas, paella or a Mediterranean menu.
- A party with international guests. When not everyone speaks the same language, an evening in three languages works better than an evening in one.
- A birthday or anniversary for someone with a tie to Spain. Someone who lives there, goes every year, or once fell in love there.
Rumba with live guitars
How Spanish the evening sounds depends mostly on the line-up. Solo, Janah sings Spanish songs to backing tracks, in between English and Dutch. That takes little space and suits a reception or dinner.
With The Gypsies, guitarists Popy Basily and Jonay Guillermo stand next to him. Then it becomes rumba, flamenco and gypsy, the sound many people know from the Gipsy Kings. It is not a tribute band. It is Janah's own band, with songs of their own next to Spanish classics. Read more on Janah & The Gypsies.

Building an evening in three languages
An evening with guests from different countries needs a plan. Not every song has to be in Spanish. What matters is that everyone hears their own song at some point.
So tell Janah beforehand who will be in the room. How many guests speak Spanish? Mostly older or younger? Are there songs the family always sings? Name them, and you'll hear which ones fit his repertoire.
At a dinner it often starts quietly, with English ballads and a few Spanish songs that leave room for conversation. When the party starts, the tempo goes up. One Spanish song at the right moment puts the whole room on the dance floor, including the guests who don't speak a word of it.

A party in Spain?
Is the party itself in Spain? You can still ask Janah. Travel and accommodation are planned into the arrangement. Whether it works depends on the date, the place and the line-up. He is very flexible: almost anything is possible by arrangement.
What it costs
A 30-minute solo set starts from € 1,495 excl. VAT and Buma (Dutch music rights). With a band or with The Gypsies the price is on request, because it depends on the line-up, the length and the travel.
