Getting married in the Netherlands, with guests from elsewhere
Maybe you live here and your family is flying in. Maybe one of you is Dutch and the other isn't. Either way, a Dutch song lands differently with half the room. A singer who works in three languages makes sure every group of guests gets a moment of its own.
Tell Janah beforehand which languages will be at the tables and roughly how many guests are coming. If a family has songs they always sing at weddings, name them. You'll hear which ones fit his repertoire.
The moments of the day
A wedding day has a few fixed moments, and each one asks something different of the music. You choose which ones Janah fills.
The ceremony
The moment the room goes quiet. A song as you walk in, one between the speeches, something while you sign. Solo works best here: little space, gentle volume. Is the ceremony in a different place from the party, outside or in another room? Say so early, because power, a spot to stand and time to move all need planning.
The first dance, live
Your first dance to a song sung live, just for you. Send the song well in advance and you'll hear whether it fits. Want it shorter than the original, or slow at the start and faster later? Agree it beforehand, so everyone knows when the guests can join you.
Dinner
During dinner the music stays in the background so people can talk. Between courses there are a few songs that make everyone look up. If it suits the evening, Janah walks past the tables.
The party
After dinner the tempo goes up. Sing-alongs, classics and Spanish rumba, with a band or with The Gypsies if you want a full dance floor. Janah picks songs by watching the room, and he will go and fetch the table that is still sitting down.

Solo, with a band or with The Gypsies
- Solo. Janah on his own, singing to backing tracks. Easy to fit in, also in a smaller room or between courses.
- With a band. Live musicians for more volume and more party. The line-up depends on the room and the number of guests.
- With The Gypsies. Janah with guitarists Popy Basily and Jonay Guillermo: rumba, flamenco and Spanish classics. The choice if you want the dance floor full. More on Janah & The Gypsies.
Not sure? Describe your day and how many guests are coming, and you'll get advice that fits. Is one side of the family Spanish-speaking? Then read about him as a Spanish-language singer too.

What to sort out beforehand
- The schedule. When dinner starts, when the party starts, and when the music stops.
- The space. Where he stands, how much room there is, and whether there is power nearby.
- Sound. Can he use the venue's system? If not, he brings his own. This is agreed per venue.
- Load-in. When he can get in to set up, and where he can unload.
- One contact person on the day, such as a master of ceremonies or the venue's coordinator, so nobody needs to call you.
What it costs
A 30-minute solo set starts from € 1,495 excl. VAT and Buma (Dutch music rights). With a band or with The Gypsies the price is on request, because it depends on the line-up, the length and the travel. Very flexible: almost anything is possible by arrangement.
Frequently asked questions
Which languages can Janah sing in at our wedding?
English, Dutch and Spanish. He can switch between them on the same evening, which helps when the two families don't both speak Dutch.
Can Janah sing during the ceremony?
Yes, if you want him to. Solo suits a ceremony best. If the ceremony is in a different place from the party, mention it when you get in touch, so power, space and time to move can be planned.
Can we request a song for our first dance?
Name the songs that matter to you when you get in touch or in the first conversation. You'll hear whether and how they fit his repertoire and the line-up you choose.
Does Janah bring his own sound system?
Sound is agreed per venue. If the venue has a good system, it can often be used. If not, he brings his own. Give the name of the venue when you get in touch.
